Perform Administrative Duties Much of an assistant bookkeeper's time is spent organizing data and dealing with paperwork. Aside from filling out forms, assistant bookkeepers also take on administrative tasks such as photocopying or scanning documents, keeping the company's filing system organized, and buying supplies.

Some people get their first bookkeeping role with a high school qualification, then learn everything else on the job. But it certainly helps to get further education. A degree isn't required. Most bookkeeping qualifications are at diploma or certificate level.

A Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining a business' financial transactions, such as purchases, expenses, sales revenue, invoices, and payments. They will record financial data into general ledgers, which are used to produce the balance sheet and income statement.
